Japan's designers were born into a country with a unique environment and culture. Against this social milieu their consciousness has developed, and now with International exposure and standing their views are being further sharpened and clarified. And their ideas will doubtless continue to develop.

The environmental designs gathered here in the fall of 1987 display a cross section of current design work, and it is believed will give a good idea of trends to be expected in the near future.
